Early Advice to Kindergartners
Learn from the praying mantis,
be reincarnated as a blue-belly lizard.
Flit into an underworld where shadows
sort themselves and sprout.
Be suspect if you’re blindfolded a lot.
You can’t understand what I’m saying yet.
You might be living in a bad neighborhood
or in a euphemism for war.
